So the sun has finally decided to make an appearance and I decided we really needed to make the most of it so after the kids swimming lessons this morning we packed the dog and a picnic into the car and headed off to Basildon Park. We are lucky that this National Trust Site is only 12 miles away so it’s ideal for a doggy walk in the sunshine. We donned our wellies and enjoyed a lovely walk through the woods climbing trees then across the cows field to pick some blackberries. A bit of fresh air has done us all the world of good and I think the kids will sleep well tonight!
After our walk we visited the local library so Lois and Cody could sign up for the summer reading challenge. They have to read 6 books by the end of the summer and get a medal if they complete it. They chose 3 books each and took part in a character treasure hunt while we were there as well which was great fun. Lots of libraries are putting on activities over the holidays so do check what’s happening at your local one as most of them are free to take part in!
